What Do You Use?

I have purchase a gravity feed HVLP spray gun from Lowe's. Can I just say I did not do enough research. It looks like they are not good at spraying Latex paint. I tried brushing a small desk and due to injuries and surgeries in the last couple of years I am not going to be going that direction. Too much pain and numbness.

I used spray paint in a can on my Gun Cabinet Rehab ....well I should say I used LOTS of spray paint. Using so much made me decide that maybe I should get a spray gun to put on my hubbies compressor. Let's just say I am impulsive sometimes. I always want the simplest....quickest way to do something....You know box cake instead of sifting all those ingredients....the same applies to crafts and DIY stuff. Right? Well it does if you research! That is what this post is about. Why not go to the people who do the same kind of projects? Any suggestions? What do you use? Should I just stick with the cans? HELP!!!!

I actually have a question myself regarding spray paint for you:

How do you prevent the spray paint from dripping and the dripping from appearing in the finished product?

Gina, I have found that I am holding the can too close or trying to lay down too thick a coat when I get drips or runs. Try backing up slightly. You should be able to see through the paint on your first coat. I find that to keep from getting runs it is better to lay down 2 to 3 light coats. I hope this helps.

My son use to paint , he used a spray paint gun from Sherwin Williams. I know they are a lot more money , but with a paint sprayer ... you get what you pay for, just like when you use a cheap paint brush to paint trim ,it will mess it up , a good paint brush is a must . And you have to clean it well each time you are done ! Good luck !

Thanks Eunice! I emailed Miss Mustard Seed and she responded with a similar answer. She uses a Graco sprayer. That is the brand Sherwin Williams sells. I think my plan is to buy one after I sell my first piece. I guess I better get busy!!!
I did get my Kobalt sprayer to work with latex paint. I will post the results tonight or tomorrow.
